My metal works are centered around enamels. Enameling is a 4,000 year old art form. An enamel piece begins with a metal base, usually copper. Powered glass is then applied and the glass is melted onto the copper using a torch or a kiln at 1500° Fahrenheit. The paintings are created using oxide pigments, which are sealed between layers of glass. Each enamel piece will have been fired 5x to 10x to achieve the desired effect.
