Enameling is painting at 1400°.
An enamel piece begins with a metal base, usually copper. Powered glass is then applied and the glass is melted onto the copper using a torch or a kiln at 1400 to 1600° Fahrenheit. |
The paintings are created using oxides and piigments, which are fused into layers of glass. Each enamel piece will have been fired 5 to 10 separate times to create and fuse the paintings.
